SPECIAL SESSION DESCRIPTION

This special session addresses the digital transformation of medical device lifecycle management, focusing on state-of-the-art approaches to inventory control, inspection, maintenance, standardization, and the deployment of CMMS/IMMIS platforms. Recent international work has consolidated best practices and recommended methodologies for strengthening reliability, safety, and performance of healthcare technology systems, emphasizing the role of structured data models, harmonized processes, and evidence-based maintenance strategies.

uilding on methodologies developed and validated within real healthcare environments, the session will highlight practical architectures, implementation experiences, and evaluation results from diverse health systems. It will also examine the integration of artificial intelligence for predictive maintenance, the use of IoT for real-time monitoring, and the challenges of scaling digital solutions in heterogeneous regulatory and resource settings.

The goal is to convene researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to advance digital and AI-enabled approaches that improve the efficiency, transparency, and resilience of medical device management worldwide.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS

Dr. Lejla Gurbeta Pokvić is an expert in biomedical engineering and metrology, holding a PhD in genetics and bioengineering. She has extensive experience in the development and implementation of innovative technologies in medicine, the application of artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector, the standardization of metrological processes, and the management of medical device safety. As the director of the Verlab Institute, she actively participates in research and development projects, with a particular focus on regulation, digitalization, and quality in healthcare. Her experience and expertise contribute to strengthening the links between science, industry, and regulatory bodies at the European level.

Dr. Lemana Spahić is an expert in biomedical engineering and the application of artificial intelligence in medicine, holding doctoral degrees in genetics and bioengineering, as well as biomedical engineering. She has extensive experience in developing predictive models for medical diagnostics and device performance, with advanced expertise in data analysis, machine learning techniques, and modeling of complex biological systems. She is the author of numerous scientific publications, a recipient of international awards for research excellence, and a leader in promoting innovative healthcare technologies. Through a multidisciplinary approach, she actively bridges science, industry, and clinical practice, contributing to the advancement of digital medicine and personalized therapeutic solutions.
